I’m not really sure what colour these pants are.  They’re kind of a bright orangey-red colour.  And I’ll confess that I bought them because they were like $9.  This is yet another pair of the infamous Old Navy Rockstars, and their cheap clearance prices have slowly, one pair at a time, led me down the path to coloured skinny pants.

If you had told me a year ago that I would be wearing super bright orange skinny pants, I would have laughed, and laughed and laughed (of course, a year ago, I was 8.5 months pregnant, so I also would have looked like a legged upside down traffic cone.  Seriously.

Anyway, I bought these pants a couple of months ago, but of COURSE because they were on clearance, they didn’t have my normal size (10 in Rockstars) and I was sucked into the aspirational size eight (still available, btw).  It’s still too small, I’m not gonna lie, but a good compression undergarment, and I made it work.  I wouldn’t wear them with a tighter or more fitted shirt, and I do think the length of this sweater is imperative to keep the muffin top under cover, but I’m liking the jeans.  It’s a really fun pop of colour.  And great for the winter that never ends…  My sweater also has some cable-knit detail, and zippers at the neck and wrists (annoying, but does make a nice style statement, when they aren’t getting in the way!).

I decided to forgo my trusty Sorels today and instead broke out my rubber boots.  These aren’t the ubiquitous Hunter boots, because I just cannot bring myself to pay that kind of coin for a shoe of molded rubber, but I think they are still pretty cute.  These boots are Sperrys, and I picked them up at The Shoe Company a couple of years ago for about $40.  You can’t really tell in the photo (which is probably a sign that I should be taking brighter photos), but they have a bit of an alligator skin embossing pattern going on.  Simple, classic, and they are neutral enough that I can wear them with either work outfits (for the commute, not actually AT work), or with jeans.

I kept the jewellery minimal today – a statement cocktail ring in rose gold, and a studded rose gold chain bracelet.  Make-up is simple…but it usually is.  I’ve usually got about a minute to throw something on and clean myself up.  Hence the natural hair (I’m going ombre next week though…watch out for that….).

For outdoors, I wore my black, white and grey plaid coat (present from hubs!), and I liked the pattern with the bright pants.

I look ridiculous in this pic because someone had just turned into the driveway, and I was getting hubs to snap the pic quickly before I got caught.  I’m still feeling a little shy about the whole outfit blog project.  Funny, because I’ve been blogging since….2005?  But this feels a lot more personal than my previous blog.  I still like this coat, and it’s great with all of my brightly coloured pants, because unlike my burgundy and purple coats, it goes with almost everything.  I personally like it better buckled than tied, but this gives you an idea.  I suspect I’ll be wearing this one a lot until it warms up (it was about 0C today, so I wore a lighter coat in honour of the balmy weather :p ).
